Koyo Machinery, Leading Manufacturer for Centerless Grinding Machines, Unveils New C6060 Series

Koyo Machinery, headquartered in Plymouth, Michigan, has launched an advanced grinding machine, the C6060, one of only a few large centerless grinding machines in the market capable of using cubic boron nitride (CBN) grinding wheels.

Debuted at the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS), the C6060  has a dual-supported, high-speed spindle, enabling long dress intervals and short cycle times. The machine is also more economical than their similar competitor’s machines.

"We developed this machine in response to our customer's needs. They wanted a machine that has CBN grinding wheels so it could reduce the downtime and maintenance when in use," says General Manager Chris Clark.

Koyo Machinery has released The C6060, a new, innovative, centerless grinding machine. With a surface speed of 80 meters per second, the machine is capable of using large cubic boron nitride grinding wheels which will improve customer cycles time and wheel life. CBN grinding wheels have an almost indefinite lifespan when care for properly. This makes them more durable and will produce consistent results.

“We developed this machine in response to our customer’s needs. They wanted a machine that has CBN grinding wheels so it could reduce the downtime and maintenance when in use,” says General Manager Chris Clark. “The C6060 is one of few machines on the market that was built with large CBN grinding wheels and CBN is actually the hardest material next to diamond, which makes for more precise and accurate results.”

Koyo’s C6060 offers the option of a conventional or CBN grinding wheel for cost reduction and stabilized quality. The machine has a dual supported, high-speed spindle which will assist with longer dress intervals and shorter cycle times.

“The C6060 has a low-thermal displacement technique as well which improves cold-start performance, making it more efficient to get the task at hand done,” Clark. “The machine is more compact, easy to use, and provides higher grinding accuracy than our competitors machines.”

With its high rigidity at the grinding position, the C6060 delivers vibration reduction which will further improve the grinding precision and accuracy. The machine is more condensed and fully enclosed which offers easier preventative maintenance and a quicker changeover.

“At IMTS, we got a much bigger turn out than expected with people wanting to see our machine in action. We heard our customer’s feedback and fulfilled their needs. This machine reduces time for changing work, dress time, blade changes, and more. We are very proud and excited to unveil the C6060 to them” adds Clark.
