Keep Building Acoustic Insulation Up to Standard
Copenhagen, April 5, 2016 (Newswire.com) - Ensuring room acoustics meet the latest ISO 16283-1:2014 standard is much easier for architects, developers and acousticians with Brüel & Kjær's Qualifier™ Type 7830 software.
To ensure the interior sound quality of buildings is fit for purpose, such as ensuring low background noise in recording studios, concert halls or schools, developers must test the insulation in the walls according to ISO 16283-1:2014. This is a specific set of procedures to measure the insulation of airborne sound between two rooms in a building, which must be followed in order to determine if the construction is suitable.
Meeting this industry standard is difficult and time consuming for acoustic consultants, as the measurement equipment is placed in different positions around the room, resulting in wide variety of results to analyse.
To simplify the post-processing stage, Brüel & Kjær created its Qualifier Type 7830 software for viewing, analysing, documenting and archiving sound insulation measurements made with the company’s sound level meters - Types 2250, 2270 and 2260. Qualifier automatically supports calculation and reporting according to a variety of national and international standards, making it ideal for testing airborne sound insulation, impact sound insulation and reverberation time.
Qualifier also displays reverberation measurements as 3D-multispectra, providing a complete overview of the frequency-dependent reverberation curves. The reverberation times and reduction curves can be graphically modified in the corresponding displays. The software also makes it possible to manually adjust levels and reverberation times used in calculations, enabling developers to modify walls and rooms during the design stage.
