Kansas City App Wins Coveted Travel Award
Kansas City Uncovered, a mobile travel app for users of Apple products, has been recognized for excellence by the Midwest Travel Writers Association at its spring meeting in Chicago.
Online, May 5, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Kansas City Uncovered, a mobile travel app for users of Apple products, has been recognized for excellence by the Midwest Travel Writers Association at its spring meeting in Chicago.
A creation of travel journalism team Bruce and Diana Lambdin Meyer, Kansas City Uncovered was released in June 2010 by Sutro Media and is now available on iTunes for $1.99. The app highlights 125 key things Kansas City residents and visitors should see, do, eat or know about the city the authors call "a Midwestern gem."
The annual writing competition sponsored by the Midwest Travel Writers, known as the Mark Twain Awards, recognizes excellence in a variety of mediums. In recognizing the content of Kansas City Uncovered, the judge commented "This app for finding the coolest spots in KC doesn't forget that the technology is merely a new way of delivering good writing, sassy insider tips and pithy comments that are the hallmarks of great travel writing."
Kansas City Uncovered offers interactive Google maps, slide shows of more than 800 images, and touch-screen links to websites and business telephones. Entries are sortable by name, distance, cost and neighborhood, as well as subjects such as barbecue, shopping, history, trivia, sports and jazz. Kansas City Uncovered sells for $1.99 on iTunes.
