Jewellery Exhibition to Rekindle the Romance of Nizam Era at Corp Executive Hotel Apartments, Al Barsha Dubai

For some of us who can only dream about owning something magnificent, will be able to drool over some of the finest replicas ever made of the medieval style of jewellery from Hyderabad.

More than 100 spectacular pieces of costume jewellery will be on display and sale at a unique exhibition opening on July 11 at Corp Executive Hotel Apartments, Al Barsha, Dubai. The exquisite 'Nizam Collection' by Dubai-based designer Ayesha Sadiq includes dazzling vintage pieces inspired from the fabled jewels of the Nizam of Hyderabad - in his day reputed to be the richest man alive. The exhibition will run until July 15 and is being organized as part of the special Ramadan and Eid festivities at the hotel.

Coveted by connoisseurs and known mostly through photographs, the legendary gems of Nizam of Hyderabad rank among the most splendid jewelry designs ever produced. His collection famously included one of the biggest diamonds in the world - the 185-carot Jacob - which the seventh and the last Nizam used as a paperweight.

It is evident that history has provided the biggest inspiration for Ayesha. Her collection is rich in symbolism and medieval imagery. In fact, her romance with the past is nothing short of a fantasy. Hailing from Hyderabad, where the Nizam rulers, specifically the Asaf Jahi dynasty - held court, she began experimenting with traditional materials from the start of her career inventing her own style of jewellery that is now sold in Dubai, Jeddah and New York.

"I decided to follow my heart since I was in my teens. To put it simply I see beauty in things that have got history behind them. And I was absolutely awestruck by some of the Nizam's jewellery I saw in a museum in Hyderabad. Ever since it was my dream to create a range that is equally fascinating but at the same time affordable for all," observed Ayesha.

The ostentatiously gifted designer continued, "My collection is a tribute to the age-old tradition of Hyderabad. Jewels from our land have graced royalty and the red carpet for generations. My aim is now to make it more accessible to common people by recreating them in semi-precious and other materials."

This beautiful show is expected to generate a lot of excitement. Aamir Pervez, General Manager, Corp Executive Hotel Apartments, Al Barsha, said, "Ayesha's works are simply fabulous. The pieces for the exhibition have been chosen with great care and thought to attract a large clientele. We hope our guests are going to enjoy this glamorous show."

The skillful adaptation of the new and old can be seen in the profusion of styles evident in her stunning array of works. Ranging from dazzling necklaces to sparkling rings the jewellery has been hand-crafted by seasoned artisans in India. Ayesha said, "It is all about mastery of techniques seldom used in the creation of cosmetic jewellery. I have tried to mix an adorn top-quality material, creating something truly special that one can treasure over time.

Organised by MPJ - Marketing Pro-Junction, the exhibition also includes a gorgeous collection of dresses from Tima Collections by Shabnam Naz that are beautifully matched with clutch bags from Diamante by Anam Fardeen. The opening night on July 11 will be accompanied by a mini fashion show where Ayesha's glittering creations will be perfectly paired by Shabnam's stunning outfits and Anam's fabulous clutch bags.

The collection, though extremely opulent, displays impeccable elegance. Aamir said, "The nice thing about these pieces is that they aren't really expensive so everybody can have a little something. All designers demonstrate a historical bent in themes depicted."

The most impressive jewel in Ayesha's collection includes a flamboyantly sculptured ring in crimson stones paired with spectacularly embellished bracelet in ravishing red and silver tones echoing the grandeur of the Nizam era.
