Jet Airways, India's premier airline, today celebrated Children's Day by operating a Flight of Fantasy 9W 8115 for underprivileged and special children in Mumbai. As part of its annual community service, Jet Airways gave over 80 children a unique, once in a lifetime opportunity to experience the "joy of flying" onboard a Jet Airways Boeing 737-700 aircraft. The Flight of Fantasy was operated in support of non-governmental organisations (NGO's) Aseema, Deeds, & Kalyandeep - K.C. Nanavati Special School, all of who are dedicated to the upliftment and education of children, vulnerable in our society.

Jet Airways Flight of Fantasy endeavours to open up the world of aviation to children who are less advantaged. Corporate partners GE Volunteers joined hands with the airline in support of this noble cause.

Jet Airways' Children's Day fanfare commenced with a lively programme at the Domestic Departure Terminal, at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. The children were entertained with music, dance, a variety of games with prizes galore and a special video screening on aviation informed the young guests on the workings of an airplane.

Ahead of the dream flight, the party zone was adorned with colour-coded blue and yellow balloons and streamers to add to the occasion. Subsequently, guests including media persons checked-in for the flight at the domestic terminal of CSIA.

The flight 9W 8115 took off from the domestic terminal of the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport and returned after an hour long flight, flying over the west coast of India, to touch down at Mumbai at 1616 hours.

On this occasion, Mr. Nikos Kardassis, Chief Executive Officer, Jet Airways said, "We are so glad to be able to continue this time-honoured tradition and provide some holiday cheer for the children, as we know how much this special event means to them. In keeping with Jet Airways' focus on supporting causes relating to child development and education in the community in which it serves, participating in today's event is both a privilege and a humbling experience. It is most gratifying for us at Jet Airways to see smiles light up on the faces of the children as they look forward to their once-in-a-lifetime experience in the skies. Children's Day is one such occasion for the young ones to cherish this memorable Flight of Fantasy. Jet Airways is grateful for the ongoing support and generosity of GE and IOCL"

The event also saw corporates come together to make the day memorable for the children. Refreshments at the lounge were courtesy Oberoi Airport Services, refreshments on board were courtesy Sky Gourmet and fuel for the flight was courtesy Indian Oil Corporation. Route Navigation charges were waived off by Airport Authorities of India, while Parking and Landing charges were taken care of by Mumbai International Airport Private Limited. Gift Hampers were given by Freeda Enterprises.

Upon their return, the privileged little guests were gifted specially designed hampers, to ensure that they took home happy memories to cherish forever.
