It's Just Us Radio Show On Location At Bahamas In Atlanta

Bahamas Ministry of Tourism and Aviation Showcases All Things Bahamas

Charlene Bowden, host of the It's Just Us Radio Show, recently attended an event hosted by The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism and Aviation designed to encourage travelers to consider the Bahamas, again, as their chose of vacation destinations.

Bahamas Minister of Tourism and Aviation Vincent Vanderpool-Wallace was the speaker during a media luncheon at the Four Seasons Hotel in Atlanta. Minster Vanderpool-Wallace shared a few amenities and facts about the Bahamas that are used by Tourism and Aviation to attract visitors to fly to the Bahamas and plan extended vacations; much of which is missed by one-day cruise excursions. One amenity is the People to People Program which pairs vacationers with a Bahamian ambassador who will show their culture and way of life.

"When most people speak about the Bahamas, the conversation is about Nassau/Paradise Island", stated Vanderpool-Wallace. "However, the Bahamas has more islands, more beaches and more territorial waters than the rest of the Caribbean combined. It has become important to us to move people beyond Nassau/Paradise Island. One way that this will be done is through infrastructure to connect the islands." The Bahamas has completed phase one of a three phase public sector project which was the opening of the terminal at Lynden Pindling International Airport. The technology at the new airport doesn't exist in any other airport in North America. It opened March, 2011.

The day ended with a private VIP reception at Tyler Perry Studios, hosted in partnership with Upscale Magazine. Approximately 500 guests including international dignitaries, local elected officials, business leaders and A-list celebrities were invited to experience "all things Bahamas". The evening included art, music, Junkanoo performers and gourmet delights courtesy of Bahamian Chef Anderw Moss. Ambassador of the United States of America to The Islands Of The Bahamas Nicole A. Avant served as keynote speaker. Tyler Perry was also in attendance. Officer Michael Forbes, former Bahamian Police Officer residing in Atlanta, was selected by the Consul General's Office in Atlanta, GA to manage security operations for the numerous dignitaries that were in attendance.
