Exciting plans were just announced by the ITC Teen Council for an ambitious fundraising event in New York City on Sunday afternoon, February 21. “Cycle for Change” will kick off a yearlong series of events by the group to raise funds for the Teen Council’s Microfinance Project, providing ITC coaching and umpiring training courses to Israeli youth in-need. This first event will take place at Manhattan’s preeminent cycling center, SOULCYCLE, located at 1470 Third Avenue on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

“The ITC Teen Council is made up of young people who care about those less fortunate than themselves, and want to help Israeli youth in-need have a better life and hope for the future”, said ITC Northeast Development Director Peter Wayne. “I am so impressed by the leadership and dedication the Teen Council displays, and I especially want to acknowledge the remarkable efforts of the “Cycle for Change” co-chairs, Robert Millman, Justin Sandler and Andrew Zucker.”

The Israel Tennis Centers, celebrating its 40th anniversary, is the largest social service agency for children in Israel, with 14 centers helping over 20,000 young people and their families each year. Since 1976, the ITC has served over a half million Israeli children from preschool to adulthood in underprivileged communities throughout the country. Through its social impact programs, the ITC touches a wide range of children, including youth at risk, immigrants and children with special needs, from autism and ADHD to Down Syndrome, as well as those with developmental and physical disabilities. Children from all walks of life are welcome, including Israeli Jews, Arabs, Bedouins and Druze, fostering peaceful coexistence. No child is ever turned away!

The Teen Council event is scheduled to begin at 2 pm, and includes 45 minutes of cycling followed by  cool down and camaraderie. It is open to the first 46 riders who register, so spots are expected to be snapped up very quickly. In addition to the $50 per rider fee, sponsorships are available and donations are graciously accepted. To register or make a donation online, go to www.israeltenniscenters.org/cycle-for-change/ or call Mr. Wayne at 212-784-9203. Contact him to learn more about the Teen Council and to get involved.
