Indigo Promotions Enjoys R&R by Traveling to Punta Cana
TULSA, Okla., September 29, 2017 (Newswire.com) - “Travel is just one of the many ways that we help our associates develop as professionals and grow as people,” stated Kevin Wichlin, Indigo Promotions’ President. “The opportunity to journey to new places helps our people broaden their horizons while also coming together as a team. There are so many benefits to business travel that I definitely consider it an investment – not an expense.”
Wichlin and hand-selected members of the Indigo Promotions crew recently returned from a leadership retreat in beautiful Punta Cana, a popular port city in the Dominican Republic. While there, they spent some much-needed time recharging their batteries and enjoying the company of other high achievers in the industry.

“The Punta Cana R&R trip was much more than a chance to lie in the sun. It was a great opportunity to network as well,” Wichlin explained. “It was amazing to be around likeminded professionals who have the same aspirations as we do. Learning how peers in other offices succeed inspired my team to set new goals for themselves and the whole Indigo Promotions organization.”
Guidelines From Indigo Promotions’ President on How to Network Effectively at a Weekend Conference
“Business travel is a part of our Indigo Promotions development program and a prime opportunity to network, so I give my team members some guidance before they go on a weekend trip like this one,” stated Wichlin. “For example, I suggest making it a goal to meet five new conference goers every day. This isn’t networking per se; this is simply getting used to saying hello to people we’ve never met. It’s likely that this habit will lead to some great contacts, but the exercise itself increases self-confidence and makes a good impression on fellow conventioneers.”
Another tip Wichlin shares is to never eat alone. Meals were a part of the all-inclusive Punta Cana trip, and each one represented a chance to either meet someone or deepen an existing relationship. Even when conferences don’t provide food, it’s easy to find other attendees at local eateries, and they’re usually glad to break bread with newfound friends.
“We focus on technique and skills quite a bit, but success in networking is mostly about attitude,” Wichlin declared. “The best contacts occur when we’re excited about the idea of meeting someone, and we know the type of person we hope to meet. From there, conversation flows naturally, and following up with another meeting is the logical conclusion.”
