Indie Distributor Random Media and Theatrical Pioneer Tugg Announce New Strategic Partnership; Tugg Expands Its Theatrical Distribution Model With First of Its Kind Deal

Transgender Doc 'Finding Kim' To Be First Theatrical Release

Theatrical pioneer Tugg, Inc today announced its first-ever arrangement to become the primary theatrical releasing arm for an Indie distributor.

Long known for linking filmmakers to local market promoters to screen films in major theatres and Art Houses, Tugg will now be the full releasing arm for select Random Media films, providing promotional services, campaign strategy, advertising and theatre booking services.  In addition, the Tugg platform will continue to provide their standard local promoter support program through their Cinema On Demand model for other films not selected for full releasing treatment.

The first film to be released in this unique new arrangement will be FINDING KIM, an inspiring and intimate documentary that follows a Transgender man during a three-year period as he transitions from female to male. The film will initially screen in five cities: Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, New York and Miami, with additional cities to be named later, along with the opportunity for groups, organizations, and individuals to bring the film to their local cinema.  FINDING KIM  will debut on June 1, 2017.

Other films will be announced at a later date.

Brian Parsons, Head of Content at Tugg said, "Random Media's focus on finding passionate filmmakers and collaborating with them on their release is very much in the spirit of the relationship Tugg strives for with our partners. For years we've been fortunate to work with incredible films and their communities to bring their projects to the big screen, and this new collaboration will help continue that tradition by helping create a more seamless relationship between the theatrical experience and the digital."

Eric Doctorow, CEO of Random Media, said, “Finding a creative way to release our films theatrically has long been a goal of Random Media. Tugg has built a very successful business finding clever ways to create theatrical exposure for unique films and we look forward to working closely with them to expand the audience for our films. This is an exciting opportunity for both of us”.
