Indian Railways' Christmas Gift: Two More Toy Trains Running On The Kalka-Shimla Route
Those who are looking forward to celebrate the festive season of Christmas and New Year in Shimla can now reach the hill station in a rush free way as Northern Railways has introduced two more toy trains on Kalka-Shimla route.
Online, December 27, 2012 (Newswire.com) - To meet the tourist rush on Kalka-Shimla route, the Indian Railways has declared the launch of two more toy trains on the same route. During the festive season of Christmas and New Year, Shimla city witnesses a moderate rush of tourists coming from different parts of the world. To control the rush of tourists from West Bengal and Delhi in particular, the Northern Indian Railways has introduced the two toy trains. The timing of these trains is scheduled in a manner to connect it with other trains' arrival in Kalka.
The first train with a capacity of 100 passengers departs at 6:30 AM from Kalka railway station. This train is connected with other trains coming to Kalka including Howrah-Kalka Mail arriving at 4:30 AM. The second toy train departing at 12:45 PM is connected with the Himalayan Queen and Shatabdi from Delhi arriving at Kalka respectively at 11.20 am and 11.40 am. This toy train can accommodate a total of 150 passengers at one time.
While talking to the media, the DRM of Ambala division P.K. Sanghi said, "We have started two toy trains and timings have been fixed in such a manner that it gets connected with the other trains arriving at Kalka. These two trains will continue its services till the first week of January, but seeing the rush it can be extended also".
At present, there are five other toy trains running on the Kalka-Shimla route, apart from the newly launched two.
