Independent Studios UK to release one hundred DVD titles with ITN Source's 'New Classics' impr

Online, October 1, 2009 (Newswire.com) - Norwich-based film production company, Independent Studios UK, today announces a new collaboration with ITN Source, the archive video arm of ITN and the world's leading provider of moving footage. The five year deal will see Independent Studios produce one hundred DVDs using archive film from ITN Source's New Classics collection, which contains rarely seen content shot between 1896 and 1970. Independent Studios UK was set up five years ago by two local entrepreneurs and filmmakers, and the company now employs 10 full time staff.

The first venture between the two will be a series of eight DVDs, due for release in early October, exploring aspects of our capital city's past. The 'London on Film' range will include titles such as London's East End 1900s - 1930s and 1940s - 1970s, London's Lost Docks, London in the Fifties Part 1 and Part 2, London's Railways 1920s - 1970s and We Ruled London: The Story of the Krays.

The deal marks a departure for both companies - this is the first time ITN Source has used the New Classics brand on a DVD release to the general public, while Independent Studios UK has been working exclusively in the East Anglian region until now.

"For several years, Independent Studios UK has specialised in producing documentaries using archive film. We have produced 57 DVD titles for the East Anglian Film Archive since 2007. These have been very popular with the public, thanks to the local focus mixed with nostalgia" explains Andrew Gray, Managing Director of the Norwich-based company.
