Sports Inc. 2000 Makes Strides Against Breast Cancer

The team at Sports Inc. 2000 recently participated in a local walk/run event to raise awareness about breast cancer. The company's CEO highlighted the importance of philanthropy.

Team members from Sports Inc. 2000 were among many attendees at the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer run/walk to help raise awareness about breast cancer. “We were honored and thrilled to participate in such a great cause,” said Paul M., the firm’s CEO.

“Many of us have family or friends who have been impacted by this horrible disease,” added the CEO. “Therefore, our involvement in this cause is personal.” Team members and their families were part of a large group of walkers and runners who covered the three- to five-mile course. Other individuals worked as volunteers to assist with check-ins and to staff water stations along the route. “Every little thing we can do brings us closer to a cure,” said Paul.

"When we work with local agencies, we help improve the quality of life in our neighborhoods,"

The American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks are the largest breast cancer awareness events in the nation. Participants raise funds for groundbreaking research and support for individuals who have been impacted by breast cancer. In addition, donations are used to educate people on how they can reduce their risk of contracting the disease. The program also promotes early detection, which increases survival rates.

Sports Inc. 2000’s CEO Discusses the Benefits of Philanthropy

“In today’s competitive environment, customers want to know how businesses are making the world a better place,” said Paul. “Having a social responsibility platform helps us maintain our competitive edge.” Management has written philanthropic objectives into its business plan to meet this goal. “We make philanthropy a part of our business, so we have seen improved loyalty from the brands we represent. Plus, our team reports a high level of job satisfaction.”

Charitable events give team members the opportunities to enhance their skills. “When you work with people who have diverse backgrounds, you learn new things,” said Paul. “Your ability to organize events and manage resources can be tested, because other people might be looking at the problem in a different way.” Also, the new contacts could lead to new social and business opportunities. “You never know who might be working with you at the food pantry,” he added.

Paul and the Sports Inc. 2000 management team also understand that giving back enables the company to build strong connections to the local community. “When we work with local agencies, we help improve the quality of life in our neighborhoods,” said Paul. “This is good for our business and the communities in which we live.”

“Our philanthropic culture promotes the well-being of our community and it makes us stronger as a team,” said Paul. “Giving back is an activity that we at Sports Inc. 2000 enjoy. We are looking forward to participating in more events like the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk/run.”
