IBCCES Appoints Dr. Joseph Cheung to Advisory Board

The International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES), a leading global provider of training and certification on autism and cognitive disorders, announced today the appointment of Joseph Cheung, M.D. to its executive advisory board. Dr. Cheung is a sleep neurologist at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL. His experience, passion, and medical background will strengthen IBCCES’ impact in the healthcare sector for both individual and facility training and certifications.

Dr. Cheung earned his medical degree from the University of Vermont, where he also obtained a Master of Science in neuroscience. He then completed his internal medicine internship and neurology residency at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis at Barnes Jewish Hospital. Dr. Cheung then completed his sleep medicine fellowship and a subsequent research fellowship at Stanford University. Dr. Cheung is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in neurology and sleep medicine. Dr. Cheung has contributed to several clinical trial studies and has published more than 30 peer-reviewed journal articles.

“I am excited to join IBCCES as a member of the advisory board. As a neurologist, I am deeply interested in understanding and caring for individuals affected by various cognitive and neuropsychiatric disorders. Above all, personally, I have a young son who has autism. I continue to learn about autism each day, seeing him grow, seeing progress he makes, as well as the challenges autism brings to him and to our family,” said Dr. Cheung. “I look forward to contributing to IBCCES in a variety of ways, sharing with the team my perspectives and knowledge as a physician and a parent.”

For almost 20 years, IBCCES has been the industry leader in training and certification for professionals around the globe. IBCCES works in all 50 states and over 80 countries to provide certification and training programs in cognitive disorders such as autism, ADHD, mental health, and other special needs to education, healthcare and corporate professionals. The IBCCES Board represents a wide range of experts in areas such as neurology, psychology, special education and behavior therapy, as well as leading autism advocates who are on the autism spectrum.

“IBCCES regularly evaluates its board composition to ensure it includes the perspectives, experience, and expertise necessary to achieve our goal of improving lives through training and certification. We are confident his passion for inclusion and unique skill set will be invaluable as we continue to work toward our mission,” said Myron Pincomb, IBCCES Board Chairman.
