Hundreds hungry for 'X Factor' takeaways on web

Hundreds more diners are hungry for takeaways on the web, with almost 40 per cent more people tucking in online in Birmingham.

The huge popularity in online ordering tracked by web-based ordering service Meal2Go.com, based in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter, owes its success partly to an 'X Factor' voting system, where diners give frank opinions on the service they have experienced.

Meal2go.com is now among the market leaders, used by dozens of restaurants and diners across the Black Country and Birmingham areas, and abroad, to find reliable takeaways around the corner.
Couples who are eating at home, can browse the web for their best local takeaway, ranked by star ratings judged by other diners' experiences.

Marcus Rezaei, managing director of Meal2Go, said: "It takes the risk out of eating out. We publish a 'warts and all' report on each takeaway, good or bad, provided by their own customers.
"Perhaps that's why there has been such a leap - of 40 per cent -in the number of people using our online food service to order meals in the Birmingham area, although Meal2go.com provides a national service to all customers around the UK."

"People like to buy online generally, because it's better value, faster and more reliable. Now we are finding that trend in people preferring to order takeaway online, rather than phoning."
"They benefit from quick and efficient delivery, and receive correct orders every time, without them getting confused over the phone. They also collect loyalty points, to save money on their next meal."

The number of people using Meal2Go.com internet ordering service to order from their favourite local takeaway has risen sharply this year, from pizza delivery, to Indian, Thai to Chinese takeaways.

Meal2Go's national database, www.meal2go.com allows local food outlets, restaurants and takeaways to take on competition from big chains. It supports more than 2,190 restaurants and takeaways.
