Homegrown NBA Player Gives Back
Online, August 16, 2013 (Newswire.com) - The city of Starkville, MS announces that it will be celebrating its Annual Travis Outlaw Day on August 24, 2013. This day was declared because of Outlaw's accomplishments as a professional NBA player after being drafted by the Portland Trailblazers in 2003. He currently plays for the Sacramento Kings. Outlaw is a former Starkville High School graduate, homegrown Mississippian at heart; because of the love Starkville has shown him, he gives back to his community by having this annual occasion. This occasion marks Outlaw's 10th year in the NBA league.
The event will take place on Saturday August 24, 2013 from 10 a.m.-3:00 p.m. at McKee Park. The event is free for everyone. The first 200 people to show at the event will get a Travis Outlaw Day T-Shirt. The day consists of free food, prize giveaways and an abundance of activities for the whole family! There will be plenty of activities for children and adults alike. With a 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament, Free Throw and 3 Point Shoot Out being held at the Sportsplex located at 405 Lynn Lane Starkville, MS with cash prizes for the winners...what more could you ask for? Get a team of six (6) and compete in the Flag Football contest...claim your turf! If you have some serious SKILLS on the GRILL...then enter the BBQ Cook Off contest, no entry fee required. One of the judges for this contest will be none other than City of Starkville's Mayor Wiseman.
