Historic Banning Mills' New Free FALL Promises Speedy, Safe 10-Story Plunge

Imagine jumping from a 10-story building and speeding downward to a smooth, comfortable landing on the ground!

That's the experience jumpers will get with the new Power FALL: A Step of Faith. The first fan-powered free fall in the eastern United States and only one of two in the United States, the Power FALL is the newest feature at Historic Banning Mills (www.historicbanningmills.com) in Whitesburg, Ga.

Featured in national publications and cited as one of the best weekend getaways in Georgia, Historic Banning Mills is home of the largest continuous zip line eco-canopy tour in the world and an array of both exciting and relaxing amenities.

Powering the Power FALL is a device originally designed for rescue work by German engineers. It uses a DROPE, which has twice the tensile strength of standard wire cable. This provides incredible support and a graceful landing, unlike the unsafe and uncomfortable bungee jump. And the sensation of a true free fall at nearly full velocity is unmatched.

The Power FALL can be done by itself or in conjunction with the Screaming Eagle zip line tour, a half-mile, four- to five-hour eco canopy zip line tour that takes participants to heights of 300 feet and includes up to 20 sky walk tree bridges and great views of the Snake Creek Gorge.

"In everything we do at Historic Banning Mills, safety is paramount," said founder Mike Holder. "That's why we sought out the proven safety of this German engineering. It's been used to save lives for years in that country."

In addition to the Screaming Eagle zip line tour, Historic Banning Mills has a myriad eco-canopy options. The full adventure includes about seven miles of eco-canopy tour elements, including more than 40 zip lines ranging from 100 feet to one-half mile and more than 40 bridges that range from 50 to 600 feet in length at 20 to 300 feet off the ground.

And after the free FALL and eco-canopy tour, participants can stay and enjoy horseback riding, extensive hiking trails, swimming, kayaking, tennis and basketball courts and miniature golf. There also is a day spa and multiple porches on which to relax, all with dramatic views of the breathtaking Snake Creek Gorge.

Historic Banning Mills is nestled on 1,200 acres of preserved land and is located just 45 minutes from downtown Atlanta. For information, visit www.historicbanningmills.com or call 1-866-447-8688.
