HIPAA Training Workshop to Be Held on April 19, 2016

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, February 2, 2016 (Newswire.com) - OutCode LLC, a medical coding, billing and consulting business located in Indianapolis, is holding the first of a series of workshops. There will be a HIPAA workshop held at the Marriott North in Carmel on April 19th, 2016. The workshop, is designed for anyone in the health care industry who handles patient's protected health information (PHI). HIPAA violations can result in costly fines and civil lawsuits; if you handle PHI, this is good workshop to attend. The following are examples of common HIPPA violations: A clinic's office staff discusses someone else's PHI where it can be overheard by other patients; office's that have a check in sheet that provide patient's name and date of birth on a list that's left out where other patients see it; leaving a computer screen on with someone's PHI visible to other patients. These are just a few examples of routine HIPAA violations.  Employee unfamiliarity with HIPAA rules is a HUGE problem in many small businesses and practices.
