Hermle Mechanische Uhrwerke & Drehteile GmbH gains manufacturing efficiencies with Mettler Toledo's SysDataManager Solution

Hermle Mechanische Uhrwerke & Drehteile GmbH - specializes in manufacturing precision turned parts and mechanical clockworks - has bolstered its manufacturing efficiency and component management, greatly improving the results of its proactive man

December 01, 2009 - Hermle Mechanische Uhrwerke & Drehteile GmbH, based in Reichenbach, Germany, specializes in manufacturing precision turned parts and mechanical clockworks. With an inventory of more than 15,000 individual components, they were searching for a solution that would assist them in reducing the inevitable errors that occur with such a diverse component pool.

Mettler Toledo was able to provide a comprehensive solution with selecting components at its warehouse. Here's how it works: The article IDs and weights of the 15,000 components are saved in a mobile IND690sys weighing terminal. With the SysDataManager program, article data is edited on the computer efficiently and conveniently, preventing data loss.

Any individual component can be called up using a keyboard or barcode reader, automatically making the correct individual piece weight available for counting. Mettler Toledo's solution eliminates the time-consuming and error prone old system in which a component's individual weight was based on a reference quantity.

Additionally, a plausibility check is undertaken to determine whether the actual piece weight corresponds to the value saved in the system. During this check, the selection of a wrong article number or a wrong part from a shelf will be detected and remedied.

To ensure proper identification of the selected component, a label is immediately printed with the article ID, quantity and individual weight. Mettler Toledo's freely programmable IND690sys and a PBA330-B60 scale enables great accuracy. The system's rechargeable battery guarantees an independent power supply in the event of grid interruption.
