Helping Hospitals in Spain Cope With the Coronavirus Pandemic
MADRID, April 6, 2020 (Newswire.com) - Last week, as the coronavirus pandemic started to spike in Spain, two Madrid businessmen, who are also Scientology Volunteer Ministers, learned that hospitals, first responders and police were desperately short of disinfectant.
They raised funds and delivered two tons of sanitizing fluid to help fill immediate needs, donating 5,000 units to Madrid hospitals, 1,200 to the city administration and 500 to local police.
To help with the shortage of face masks for hospital staff, they used their business supply lines to locate 3,000 masks for nursing homes and hospitals and more than 1,200 personal care kits for nurses and doctors.
Another Scientologist, from Valencia, has converted his mattress factory and is working in coordination with four other companies to produce and deliver six million high-quality face masks.
These products are key for prevention, something the Church of Scientology is stressing in its response to this pandemic.
With the motto an ounce of prevention is worth a ton of cure, the Church has produced a new website to help people with simple tools and information so they and their families stay well in the midst of the pandemic.
Located on the Scientology website at Scientology.org/staywell are videos and free booklets that can be downloaded or read online. The How to Stay Well resource center includes information on how illness spreads and lays out the best prevention practices including information on why prevention is important, how viruses and bacteria spread, how to prevent the spread of illness with isolation, how to properly wash your hands, social distancing tips, how to clean and sanitize your home, and what to do if you become sick or have symptoms.
The website is available in 17 languages and is offered as a public service by the Church of Scientology.
