HDS Companies Joins a Growing Number of Employers Who Are Giving Their Staff a Paid Company Holiday on Election Day 2020
MIAMI, September 23, 2020 (Newswire.com) - With Election Day just two months away, Housing and Development Services, Inc. (HDS Companies) is supporting its employees' right to vote or volunteer in the 2020 U.S. presidential election by launching a nonpartisan company-wide movement: HDS Votes.
HDS founder and CEO Cristina Miranda Gilson announced that Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2020, will be a company-wide paid holiday. All Housing and Development Software, eHousingPlus, and HDS Foundation employees will take the day off to vote, assist others in voting or volunteer at the polls. HDS joins a growing number of employers across the U.S. who are taking action to provide paid time to their staff to exercise their citizenship without the burden of any loss of wages and participate in an Election Day of Service.
Leading up to the paid company holiday on Election Day, HDS will share voter information, resources, and tools to inform and organize its workforce. These efforts are designed to cause a necessary shift in culture to increase voter participation in our presidential election. In the United States, Election Day is not a federal holiday, and every Election Day, millions of Americans try to take enough time away from work to vote. The HDS leadership team is confident that providing the Paid Time Off alleviates any concerns of voter location delays due to the current pandemic.
