Yesterday evening marked the sixth time that Hamburg's games industry congregated for what has become the traditional occasion to celebrate a successful year: Gamecity Night. More than 400 professionals from Germany and other countries packed the "Huhnerposten" in downtown Hamburg, to party, establish new contacts, and meet friends and peers to cap off an eventful Gamecity year. After all, despite a consolidating market, Hamburg's games sector continued creating new jobs and outperformed other games industry locations in Germany. The gamecity:Hamburg initiative shares this positive assessment. Apart from new activities for the local games industry, the twelve Gamecity events set a new attendance record with more than 2,300 participants in total. gamecity:Hamburg is grateful to Bigpoint and co-sponsor InnoGames for genereously supporting Gamecity Night 2012.

Four well-received "Gamecity Treff" gatherings - one of which was held for the first time in cooperation with the Reeperbahn Festival -, two Recruiting Tours to academic institutions in Berlin and Copenhagen, the Indiepixel Summit as a brand-new forum for Hamburg's independent scene, and other established events like the Hamburg Games Conference, embody the full diversity of gamecity:Hamburg's activities to promote the local games industry. The itinerary was topped off by yesterday's Gamecity Night, with 400 guests celebrating late into the evening.

"This year, Hamburg's games industry has come of age. At a time of sweeping discussion about the sector's consolidation, Hamburg-based companies are in a strong position and poised for the new year. That is why our booked-out Gamecity Night saw everyone in a thoroughly splendid mood and happy for the opportunity to meet so many industry colleagues in one place," as Achim Quinke, Managing Director of gamecity:Hamburg, concludes. "With the help of our sponsors, Bigpoint and InnoGames, we were able to again present this important industry gathering in an appropriately festive setting."
