H.J. Russell & Company Makes Bold Moves

Atlanta, GA, April 14, 2016 (Newswire.com) - For the first time in its more than 60 year history, H.J. Russell & Company, the Atlanta-based construction and real estate conglomerate, significantly changed its corporate identity. They have removed the iconic umbrella and full name of their company from their logo and are focusing on an initial and name that represent the brand and legacy of the founder and his family – Russell. This announcement comes on the heels of their recent move from their headquarters of 56 years in Atlanta’s west side neighborhood of Castleberry Hill to the 16th floor of an Atlantic Station skyscraper at 171 17th Street in midtown Atlanta.
Instead of the gold umbrella icon against an evergreen-colored backdrop that was creatively formed with the lowercase initials of the late founder, Herman J. Russell, H.J. Russell & Company will now be represented by a contemporary white “R” in an updated, vibrant green shadow box which is then dissected by two lines. The two lines create four squares that represent the four core areas of their business – Construction, Property Management, Program Management and Real Estate.
"Our beautiful new space, that has modern office conveniences and updated technology capabilities, along with our refined logo and updated brand image, will inspire innovative ideas and forward thinking by our team as we meet the evolving needs of our clients."
H. Jerome Russell, President, H.J. Russell & Company
“Although the umbrella icon will always be an important part of H.J. Russell & Company’s history, we wanted to update our brand so that it speaks for the contemporary vision we have for our company and for the industries we operate in while still showing respect for our legacy,” said Michael Russell, CEO, H.J. Russell & Company.
The contemporary iconography and color of the H.J. Russell & Company logo is also carried out in the company’s newly designed modern headquarters in Atlantic Station. The new office space is accented with warm browns, white and the more updated green found in the new logo.
“Our beautiful new space, that has modern office conveniences and updated technology capabilities, along with our refined logo and updated brand image, will inspire innovative ideas and forward thinking by our team as we meet the evolving needs of our clients,” said H. Jerome Russell, President, H.J. Russell & Company. “Now, every day we can now look out over the city that has presented our family with so many opportunities to be a part of its skyline and look at ways we can have an everlasting impact on the community and make it even better for the next generation.”
As a nod to their father’s entrepreneurial spirit and to help cultivate the next generation of Atlanta’s entrepreneurs, the Russell family envisions an entrepreneurial center existing in the former 40,000 square-foot headquarters building, located at 504 Fair Street, where future business builders can go, get inspired, dream and create.
“Our planned innovation and incubator center will be designed to breed success for up and coming entrepreneurs, particularly minorities, by connecting them with the tools, skills and relationships they need to turn their dreams into reality,” said Donata Russell Ross, CEO, Concessions International, LLC. “What better place to have this happen than where many of my father’s and our family’s dreams came true too.”
