Gubernatorial Candidate Mapp Challenges Incumbent To Debate Who Has The Best Experience To Fight Crime

Gubernatorial Candidate Ken Mapp has launched a radio ad challenging USVI Governor John de Jongh to debate experience in fighting crime and gun violence in U.S. Virgin Islands

Former Lt. Governor Ken Mapp has launched a radio ad challenging Governor John de Jongh to debate who has the most experience and best policies to fight the dramatic rise in crime, to get guns off the streets and to make the entire Territory safe.

This challenge came in the wake of competing radio ads launched in recent days by both campaigns: First an ad by former Governor Charles Wesley Turnbull endorsing Mr. Mapp as the candidate who will bring law enforcement experience to the Governor's Office. Then the de Jongh campaign ran an ad challenging these qualifications.

Mr. Mapp says, "If Governor deJongh wants to debate me on my experience and policies on crime then he should step out from behind his radio ads and debate me on this issue out in the open, in a public forum."

Mr. Mapp continued: "I look forward to putting up my over 8 years of law enforcement experience as a former police officer who fought crime on some of the toughest streets in America against John deJongh's zero experience in fighting crime and let the people of the Virgin Islands decide who is best qualified to take back our streets."

About Mapp/Sekou 2010

Mr. Mapp and his running-mate, Dr. Malik Sekou are running as anti-crime Independents who believe that eliminating the gun violence and murder rate, which has jumped dramatically under the de Jongh administration, is key to ensuring a strong and growing economy for the Territory heavily dependent on the tourism industry.
