Bishop, CA - June 29 - According to Ted Erlwein, the driving force behind the dynamic new small business data services, The Government Guru and The GSA Guru, sales under the GSA Schedules program continue to be strong in certain categories.

GSA Schedule 03FAC for Facility Maintenance showed strong increases during the first two quarters of the current Federal Fiscal Year, increasing sales by almost $40 million or 26.2%. This GSA Schedule provides for maintaining Federal facilities, developing energy solutions, and providing maintenance for specific trades such as elevators, fire suppression systems and grounds maintenance.

One of the top GSA Schedules, MOBIS or Mission Oriented Business Integrated Solutions showed an increase from $2.05 billion for the first two quarters of FY09 to $2.453 billion in the same period of FY10 for an increase of 16.1%. MOBIS provides for consulting and facilitation services to assist Federal agencies in process improvement.

Other top GSA Schedules showing increases were Schedule 23V - Vehicles up 21.8%; Schedule 56 Building Materials up 21.5%; Schedule 78 SPORTS up 21.1% and Schedule 84, Law Enforcement up 4.4%. The Information Technology Schedule 70, while the largest schedule in terms of overall sales compiling $7.8 billion in the first two quarters of FY09, remained flat in FY10, slipping $117 million or down 1.5%.

Erlwein notes that the Federal Government is reaching the end of the Federal Fiscal Year and all agencies must allocate all budgetary allocations by September 30th. Having a GSA Schedule is one of the most efficient ways to assist Federal agencies in achieving this goal.

The General Services Administration Schedules program is a process where small and large businesses pre-negotiate a long term contract which is accessible by every Federal agency for ease of purchasing. These GSA Schedules are for a five year term with three five year option periods providing a potential 20 year contract with the Federal Government. Because of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 8.404, the contracting process for achieving awards is faster and more efficient for Schedule holders. This contracting vehicle can provide a dynamic potential for winning business and increasing revenue. GSA Federal Acquisition Service (FAS) administers these GSA Schedules but they are available to all agencies.

There are approximately 26 million businesses in the United States. Of those, less than 500,000 are registered to do business with the Federal Government on the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) database. And of those, only about 18,000 have GSA Schedules. Having a GSA Schedule can significantly reduce a company's competition and potentially have a dramatic increase on revenue generation.
