Greenbeard.com: New Search Engine Recruits Professors from Top Schools

Greenbeard.com officially launched an aggressive outreach program 6 weeks ago focused on US professors. Greenbeard is a new search engine that allows users to schedule conference calls with experts and specialists, paying them for their time.

According to the founders of Greenbeard.com, search engines such as Google and Bing can, at present, only go so far in understanding our needs. There are many situations that require guidance, mentorship, or tough troubleshooting which can only be provided by someone with experience. Their goal is to build Greenbeard.com into a large-scale destination that anyone can visit when they need to locate human wisdom and expertise.

Since the launch of their outreach campaign 6 weeks ago, sign ups have been pouring in. Those sign ups include professors from a large number of schools, including MIT, Yale, Dartmouth, Caltech, NYU, John Hopkins, Cornell, CMU, Brown University, University of Chicago, UT at Austin, UT at Dallas, UT at Arlington, Texas A & M, Texas Tech, Berkeley, Baylor, Northwestern University, University of Texas of the Permian Basin, Texas Christian University, University of Texas at El Paso, University of Texas at San Antonio, University of Texas Pan American, University of Texas at Browsville, University of Oklahoma, to name a few. Many of the advisors hold positions with well-known professional associations and have published numerous books and research papers.

A number of undergraduate and graduate students have also signed up, offering tutoring to other college students, high school students, and the public in general.

The founders explain their long-range vision as follows:

"Everyday, millions of people search Google and Bing looking for answers. A lot of those searches lead to frustration. In many cases it is advice or guidance from another person that is needed rather than web-based search results."

"On the other side of the coin, there are millions of people with years of experience whose income does not reflect their learning. At present, no large-scale marketplace exists where they can turn their knowledge into income."

"These are some of the problems we seek to address with Greenbeard..."
