Green Chef Announces Gluten-Free Authentication

Leader Within the Meal Kit Space Becomes First to Obtain Gluten-Free Food Service Certification

Green Chef Corporation, a USDA certified organic and leading meal kit company, announced today that it has become the first meal kit company to receive Gluten-Free certification through the Gluten Intolerance Group’s Gluten-Free Food Service (GFFS) program. This is a landmark moment for the Gluten-Free community, which is traditionally an underserved community within the food landscape. While numerous food and beverage products claim to be gluten-free, many do not invest in gluten-free authentication.

This is another “first” of many for Green Chef as it continues to pave the way in food safety and customer personalization. Green Chef was the first meal kit company to receive USDA organic certification and also the first national meal kit company to launch Vegan, Keto, and Paleo options. “As someone who has spent my entire life working to make a difference in the food system, I am truly excited for this latest milestone for our customers and company. We understand the difficulties of those facing issues with gluten, and as leaders in our field, are thrilled to be able to provide the gluten-free community with healthy and delicious gluten-free food options,” said CEO/Founder, Michael Joseph.

As many as 1 percent of Americans today suffer from Celiac disease and upwards of 10 percent of people in the US are considered to be gluten-sensitive. Many people who suffer from Celiac disease or sensitivities to gluten may otherwise opt not to dine out, or to dine out in fear because many food establishments may not control for gluten cross-contamination. Green Chef aims to provide highly trusted, restaurant quality gluten-free food options for these consumers.

The Gluten Intolerance Group, considered to be the “gold standard” in the gluten-free space, has partnered with Green Chef to provide people with gluten intolerance or sensitivity issues the peace of mind that Green Chef has implemented rigorous standards and procedures to control gluten cross-contamination with respect to all of its sourcing and manufacturing processes. In addition to the standard Gluten Free meal kit option, Green Chef’s Keto and Paleo meal kit options have also obtained the Gluten Free certification, making these three meal kits the only options in the market today to offer such certified choices.

“We are thrilled that Green Chef has completed our certification process and has made the effort to meet the needs of the gluten-free community,” says Chris Rich, vice president of development for the Gluten Intolerance Group (GIG). “Gluten-free consumers are excited when an innovative service such as the one provided by Green Chef provides them with unique, safe eating options.”
