GoGetter App Launch Upends Traditional Job Search Process for Millennials and Skilled Trades

A unique new employment app is challenging the outdated job board model.

Why is the job search process so difficult? With millions of open jobs, why hasn’t corporate America pushed for better ways to connect with skilled talent?

A new tech start-up has announced the release of their “GoGetterapp, a simple and straight-forward mobile app that ditches the traditional, established job search process by helping millennials and those in the skilled trades highlight their experience and directly connect with prospective employers.

A 2014 employment sector report by USA Today has noted that by 2017 an estimated 2.5 million new, middle-skill jobs are expected to be added to the workforce accounting for nearly 40 percent of all job growth. Nearly 600 occupations are expected to see a 5 percent or more growth in jobs across all skill levels in the 125 largest metro areas of the country. From construction and electronics to technology related fields and health care, skilled labor jobs are expected to be the primary driver for this overall growth.

As the USA Today report noted, one of the biggest challenges has been connecting skilled labor with prospective employers. The research is showing that there are real reasons why employers struggle to find qualified skilled workers. In turn, many candidates in the skilled trades don’t know what markets or businesses are seeking employees with their specific skill sets.

“We believe that today’s millennials and people in the skilled trades are a marginalized, underserved workforce with incredible talent and technical skills. There is a tremendous need for their capabilities” says Fred Dale, the co-founder of GoGetter. “While the job boards shout about their success, it’s actually a myth that you will find your next job by applying online. Only 15% of all jobs are filled through job boards. Today’s generation is mobile, always connected, and looking for opportunities that are relevant to their skills and passion. The existing job search process doesn’t lend itself to today’s labor market. We decided to create a modern mobile tool that reflects today’s generational preferences and will provide greater opportunities for all people involved.”

GoGetter app users simply log-in and create a profile by selecting their individual skill sets, and then are instantly matched to employers who are looking for specific skills sets within defined geographical locations. The employer simply “swipes” their business card to the matched user for direct communication. Users are always in front of prospective businesses that are looking for their skills, and employers have instant access to talent. The GoGetter app finds the best candidates matching the skills the employers needs most and gives direct and personal access to candidates who are currently looking for a job as well those passive candidates who are not currently looking but have the skills employers need.

The GoGetter app is available for download at Apple iTunes and more information can be found at GoGetter247.com.
