Get Motivated with Colin Powell and Rudy Giuliani in Denver: An Update from the Front Line.

Mike Farrell, with aspenIbiz, just attended a Get Motivated seminar held at the Pepsi Center in Denver, CO. He provides an overview of the seminar and highlights material presented by Colin Powell, Rudy Giuliani, and Tamara Lowe.

"This was definitely an energizing day - it was jammed packed with information, suggestions, and inspiration," said Mike Farrell, with aspenIbiz, after attending a one day Get Motivated seminar held in Denver this past week. Over 20,000 were in attendance at the Pepsi Center with another 10,000 in other venues throughout the greater metropolitan area.

Tamara Lowe was moderator and she squeezed in a brief session between several of the luminaries that discussed the results of her recent research. These findings can be used to determine "your motivational type" based on selections that are made to questions in these three areas: what drives you; what are your needs; and what rewards, do you expect.

One of the morning sessions was conducted by Colin Powell, former Secretary of State. Having been, at different times, in the role as America's top warrior and later as America's top ambassador, he attributed the needs, direction, and decisions made by leadership in all countries as being based on their economies. Powell cites as the key to success in working with countries is to facilitate the free flow of ideas, information, and commerce ... as this happens, then these nations will open their markets, free up their policies, and embrace trade and technology.

Finally, one of the last sessions of the day was conducted by Rudy Giuliani, former mayor of New York City and US Attorney for the Southern District of New York. He outlined his 6 steps to leadership. These include: have "inner" beliefs; be an optimist; have courage; undertake relentless preparation; understand the value of teamwork; and have the ability to communicate.

As the seminar was ending, Farrell stated that he is looking forward to "applying these insights throughout his daily activities".

There were many other speakers ... highlights of each can be found by reading updates that will be posted at Farrell's blog over the next few weeks.

Farrell, a former engineer with General Dynamics and management consultant at Deloitte ... is on a mission to empower individuals by increasing their financial literacy, improve their ability for personal sustainability, and contribute to the program that has a goal of creating 100 Millionaires by 2012.

He favors a recent quote from Steve Forbes. Forbes says "financial education with the resulting increased financial literacy, and associated empowerment, are the keys to recovery from this ongoing financial crisis.
