Georgetown Exxon Celebrates One Year Anniversary Of Brotherly Competition

Georgetown Exxon and Georgetown Shell, located on opposite corners of the landmark intersection of Wisconsin Ave and Q St NW in Georgetown, Washington DC, join together in announcing the one-year anniversary of a unique competitor relationship.

In the spring of 2013, the owner of Georgetown Exxon, located at 1601 Wisconsin Ave NW was searching for a new Service Manager. After an extensive search he found just the right fit in Jamie Ladson, an ASE certified Master Technician with expertise well suited to the auto care needs of customers in Georgetown, Washington DC.

Not so unusual, perhaps, but the story gets better when you glance across the busy intersection and take a closer look at the competition.

Georgetown Shell opened for business in March of 2013, more than 2 years after a fire at 1576 Wisconsin Ave NW gutted and closed the former business (Georgetown Auto Service LLC). Leading the way for the newly owned and operated auto repair service was Service Manager, Bobby Ladson, another ASE certified pro with extensive experience and a lot of enthusiasm.

Jamie Ladson and Bobby Ladson are brothers whose shared lifelong passion for all things automotive, led each of them along the same career path: the daily satisfaction of providing top-quality automotive repair and customer service to real people in neighborhood settings.

After more than 25 years working in various east coast and DC metro area locations, the two brothers are now managing two different auto repair businesses within a few feet of each other. Competitors? Sibling rivals? Well, yes. And no.

It just so happens that both shops are owned by the same company, JJZ Enterprises. The owner knew what he was doing when he hired the Ladsons and it proved to be a smart move. The brothers have a great relationship and the same kind of open, friendly, customers-come-first way of doing business. They are also among the best in the industry when it comes to repairing and maintaining vehicles of all sorts. Georgetown just got really lucky to land them both.

"Georgetown has been welcoming to both of us and there is plenty of business to go around," says Jamie Ladson. "In my first year here, I've loved getting to know people, names and a little bit about the families who bring their cars to Georgetown Exxon for maintenance and repair. I'll ask them how the kids are and they'll ask about mine, too. That's what being a neighborhood automotive shop is all about."

The other member of the management team at Georgetown Exxon is Shop Manager and ASE Certified Master Technician, Brian Suarez. Together, Ladson and Suarez have a wealth of knowledge and experience in maintaining and repairing European and other foreign autos, as well as every conceivable domestic car or truck on the road today.

So is it overkill to have two such highly productive and successful auto repair businesses at the same Georgetown intersection? These guys don't think so, and apparently neither do their customers. Both shops are buzzing with activity all day, every day. Except Sundays, that is.

Both locations are open for gas 7 days a week and auto repair and maintenance services Monday through Saturday. While they each invite people to stop in any time if there is a problem, they encourage appointments, which can be made online or by calling ahead. Both shops are AAA Approved Auto Repair facilities, so it's easy to get towed in, as well.
