Gazeley Breaks Ground on Phase 1 of Magna Park Baodi, Tianjin

Gazeley commenced the Phase I of its Magna Park in Baodi Tianjin. It's a 64,000 sq m build-to-suit warehouse project for a leading global retailer

Gazeley, a leading global developer of high quality, cost effective warehouses, today held a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of Phase 1 of Magna Park Baodi in Tianjin. When completed in Q4 2013, Phase 1 will be a 64,000 m2 build-to-suit warehouse and will serve as the north China distribution centre for a leading international retailer.

Located within Tianjin Baodi Economic Development Area, Magna Park Baodi has a total land area of 917 mu with potential developable gross floor area of over 300,000 m2. This high profile scheme will be developed in phases, with a focus on build-to-suit logistics and warehouse facilities for leading multi-national companies.

For Phase 1, Gazeley is delivering a state of the art specification that will provide the customer with a world class logistics facility to support their rapidly growing business in China. This will be the second facility that Gazeley has developed for this global brand in the last 12 months, having delivered a similar distribution centre for the company in Europe.

Commenting at the ground breaking, Sally Lin, Gazeley China Country Director said, "It has been a pleasure to work collaboratively with the customer and the Tianjin Baodi Economic Development authorities to commence this pioneering project. We are honoured that a leading global brand has chosen Magna Park Baodi as a base for their growth in China. With the continued support of the local government, we look forward to further establishing Baodi as a leading hub for modern logistics in northern China."

Gazeley's Magna Park concept has achieved wide success and acclaim across the globe, with the original Magna Park in the UK widely recognized as Europe's premier logistics and distribution location. Baodi was selected to be home to the first Magna Park in China due to its strategic location 70 km from both Beijing and Tianjin and convenient transportation links to all of northern China.

Nick Cook, Executive Board Member for Gazeley commented, "We are very pleased to welcome our first customer to Magna Park Baodi. We are proud to have collaborated with Tianjin Baodi Economic Development authorities who have enabled us to bring the Magna Park concept to life in China. We continue to leverage our global customer base and prove that we can cost effectively deliver a consistent international standard in all our locations."

Phase 2 of Magna Park Baodi is currently being marketed for development. Phase 2 is ideal for build-to-suit regional distribution facilities and can be flexibly configured for gross floor areas of up to 235,000 sqm.
