Freelancing Comes to the STEM Fields
DALLAS, October 12, 2017 (Newswire.com) - Scilancer, LLC has launched Scilancer.com, an online marketplace for freelancing in the STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). The service connects educated and trained individuals with organizations seeking short-term help for research and development projects.
Scilancer.com will help organizations find highly skilled individuals to perform certain tasks when in-house expertise is not available. This is a very common problem, as the STEM fields have become ever more specialized.
Our service will create jobs that would not otherwise exist.

The service will also help STEM degree holders find work in their own fields. It could be to fill the gap between graduation and full-time employment, or even between jobs. Individuals may also find that freelancing can become regular work. This is important because, contrary to popular belief, earning a STEM degree may not improve your odds of gaining employment.
For years, technology leaders and government officials have insisted that there is a lack of STEM candidates for the positions available. It's seen as such a problem that some of the largest tech companies in the U.S. have just pledged $300 million to boost computer science education, an action that closely followed a commitment by the White House to provide $200 million in grants for STEM training and resources.
However, according to a report by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, only a small subset of the STEM fields are experiencing a shortage. "The last decade has seen conflicting evidence regarding the number of workers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics," states the report. "Some proclaim an impending STEM crisis, others a STEM surplus. Analysis reveals that the academic sector is generally oversupplied while both the government sector and private industry have shortages in specific areas."
Martin Kucej, co-founder and CEO of Scilancer, LLC said that "by keeping STEM degree holders involved in their fields, even with short-term work, Scilancer.com helps them keep the value of their degrees as well as the time and energy invested in them, which in turn helps the advancement of STEM. Plus, our service will create jobs that would not otherwise exist and do so because of the ease in which organizations will be able to hire STEM freelancers."
"Scilancer.com is also unique in that it is the only freelancing site devoted to the STEM fields," added co-founder J.W. Bizzaro. "Furthermore, it's less expensive than generic freelancing websites and will offer higher quality projects by setting a minimum project budget and encouraging competitive quotes."
