Free Medical Camp at Akal Charitable Hospital, Baru Sahib, HP from 6th - 7th April 2012

The Kalgidhar Trust, Baru Sahib is again set to organize a two-day free medical camp at Akal Charitable Hospital, Baru Sahib on 6th and 7th April 2012 for the benefit of rural poor of the Himalayan region around Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh

Working for the welfare and humanity by running various projects, The Kalgidhar Trust, Baru Sahib is again set to organize a two-day free medical camp at Akal Charitable Hospital, Baru Sahib on 6th and 7th April 2012 for the benefit of rural poor of the Himalayan region around Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh. Well known doctors from Jalandhar are participating in this camp.

The KalgidharTrust organizes medical camps four times a year, where in specialists from USA and several states of India volunteer their services. Approximately 2000 patients attend each of these camps, where more than 100 operations are carried out absolutely free of cost. Surgeries like Hernia, hysterectomy, Myringoplasty, Cleft lip and cleft palate, skin grafting, contractures following burns, all kinds of general surgeries and orthopaedic surgeries are done free of cost in these camps.

This free medical camp will be beneficial for the rural poor in far-flung hilly areas, those needy and underprivileged sections of society who cannot afford the treatment in good hospitals.

Akal Charitable Hospital is a 280-bed fully functional hospital with all state-of-the art ultra-modern medical facilities. It provides medical care to the poor patientsof these remote, far flung rural areas of backward Himalayan region. This hospital caters to the medical needs of patients covering an area of a radius of 100 Km.with about 300 patients treated daily at its OPD.

In addition to the routine medical and surgical services, emergencies of all kinds are also attended. Akal Charitable Hospital is the only hospital in the region attending to the patients of snake-bite for which expensive Antivenin is given.

The patients and their attendants travel to Akal Charitable Hospital by bus, horse or on foot, undertaking quite long and arduous journey on difficult terrains to get rid of deadly diseases completely free of cost, the treatments that would normally cost up to Rs. 1 Lakh in cities.

In addition to the free medical checkups and treatments, dental care, surgical procedures and post-operative medical care, all patients and their accompanying family members receive free accommodations and meals, regardless of caste, creed, color, religion and social status.
