Fortum Unveils Free LPR Camera Service For Recovery Agents

Online, May 13, 2010 (Newswire.com) - DALLAS (May 13) --- Fortum Corp., a leading provider of license-plate recognition (LPR) technology to the repossession and recovery industry, today announced an exciting new program that will provide free camera systems to approved agents.

Along with receiving a free, fully functioning, two-camera LPR system, approved agents will also become part of Fortum Recovery's national forwarding network, making them eligible to immediately recover vehicles identified by the LPR technology.

Under this new program, recovery agents also will be able to search their own historical plate scans for new matches at no charge.

The free camera system includes two video cameras with infrared illuminators, a video-processing unit, and a laptop computer pre-installed with the world's most advanced LPR software. Fortum's cameras are small enough to be easily positioned on the inside of a recovery truck, making the system truly portable.

Fortum will continue its exclusive partnership with PlateScan to provide the underlying LPR technology for its camera systems. PlateScan's technology is the most advanced LPR software available and is widely used by law enforcement agencies nationwide as well as by the Department of Homeland Security.

Making this offer even more attractive is the price. To obtain the most sophisticated LPR system available, along with gaining access to a growing database of vehicles available to be recovered, agents will only need to make a minimal security deposit and then pay a small monthly access fee. Approved agents will also receive full IT and technical support, including installation training. If a system malfunctions and can not be repaired, a new system will be shipped out within 72 hours.
