Fast Company Names GHGSat as One of the World's Most Innovative Companies for a Third Year Running

Fast Company has named GHGSat as one of the World's Most Innovative Companies in its latest annual ranking of companies "making an outsized impact".

GHGSat's innovative technology, which can pinpoint greenhouse gas emissions from space in high-resolution, has been recognized with second place as part of the 10 Most Innovative Companies in the North America category, for helping the industry to take action to reduce emissions. This marks the third year running that the company has been awarded this accolade.

GHGSat is the only commercial company with an active satellite constellation able to detect methane in high resolution. Over the course of 2022, the company doubled its monitoring capability, pushed its yearly capacity beyond 1M facility measurements, identified over 200 Mt of CO2e in methane emissions worldwide across industries, representing over 43 million cars on the road for a full year, to meet the growing market demand for accurate emissions data. GHGSat achieved a series of important world firsts, demonstrating its continuous innovative approach, including detecting methane emissions with its high-resolution satellites from open-cast coal mines, offshore oil & gas facilities, and even cattle feedlots.

The demand for data is increasing as awareness of the benefits of addressing methane emissions continues to grow, and nations turn their focus to meeting the commitments made as part of the Global Methane Pledge. With 12 spacecraft in orbit by the end of the year, including the world's first commercial CO2 satellite, GHGSat will be doubling its capacity once again in 2023 to make more than 1.5M facility measurements as new satellites are progressively commissioned, reaffirming its leadership position in the monitoring of greenhouse gases at industrial facilities from space.

"GHGSat continues to set the bar higher and higher with its innovative technology and unmatched capability to work hand in hand with operators and governments thanks to its growing constellation. This recognition from Fast Company is a strong reaffirmation of our leadership position and a reminder for our team to always keep pushing the limits," says Stephane Germain, CEO GHGSat.

The company was awarded a contract by NASA, which will see GHGSat data products evaluated for advancing Earth science and application goals under the Commercial Smallsat Data Acquisition (CSAD) program. The firm also received support from the Canadian Government to provide satellite emissions data to the International Methane Emissions Observatory (IMEO).
