Exclusive Restaurant Marketing Event Coming to Church & State on September 11

Step Right Up

Chefs, restaurant owners, and managers throughout the greater Salt Lake City region are invited to attend a special, limited-space marketing event to be hosted by the Church & State business incubator on Sept.11, beginning at 6 p.m.

Billed as Step Right Up, the event has been designed to educate those in the restaurant industry in how to use digital marketing best practices to grow and develop their businesses. The event will also touch on combining digital and print media in order to maximize marketing efforts.

Step Right Up is co-sponsored by Webtek Interactive, Contact Design, and the Utah Restaurant Association. Both Webtek Interactive and Contact Design are directly involved in digital marketing through SEO and web design. Representatives from both companies will work with their counterparts from the Utah Restaurant Association to present the educational components of the Step Right Up event. “In this modern information-driven internet market, it is incredibly important for restaurants to have a website and a social media presence," says Melva Sine, president and CEO of the Utah Restaurant Association. "It would be akin to not having a listing in the phone book 10 years ago. Guests want to know who you are, where you are located, and what you offer."

Taming the Marketing Beast

Step Right Up is themed around a fun circus concept. The primary message of the event is one of taming the marketing beast. Attendees will learn common web design strategies, methods to improve search engine rankings, and tips for designing websites that drive sales.

"Considering 60 percent of people search on their phone within an hour of going out to eat, it’s important for restaurant owners to know how people are using mobile devices for dining, and how they should strategize around this. Understanding what factors Google looks at when deciding which restaurants to rank in the top positions will help you spend your time the most effective way to bring direct results," says Justin Crawmer, a partner at Webtek Interactive SEO Agency. "Also, it’s now critical for restaurants to incorporate certain elements on their website to connect with the modern diner."

“Restaurant management typically tends to concentrate on the food. That’s what they love and that’s why they opened their eatery," adds Matthew Coles, a partner at Contact Design. "Unfortunately, their marketing efforts are secondary and some feel like they are so far behind, they give up. We want to show restaurants some fairly painless ways to take steps with the design and functionality of their websites that can really pay off.”

In addition to educating chefs and restaurant owners, co-sponsors aim to offer guests a fun-filled event that includes snacks, and cocktails served by the Bearded Lady bartender. It promises to be an invaluable evening for guests looking to improve their restaurant marketing in a way that is both educational and entertaining. "If there is one thing restaurateurs understand, it is intention in every inch of their restaurant," Sine says. "We hope this event will help them implement the same intention in their marketing and branding will provide them with the tools and guidelines to do the same."

To register for the free event, guests should visit steprightup.eventbrite.com. Space is limited, so those interested in should claim their place as soon as possible.
