EvoLogics provides modems for underwater acoustic sensors networks

Evologics S2C acoustic modems are successfully applied by the underwater communication project of the Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R) in Singapore to build an Underwater Acoustic Sensor Network (UASN).

The S2C acoustic modems perform as network adapters for underwater nodes and provide both the physical layer and the data link layer required for networking applications. Robust instant message delivery and an efficient high-speed point to point communication together with broadcasting capability provide a powerful playground for network protocol development.

I2R successfully tried out different networking protocols, evaluating their feasibility for various application scenarios. I2R reports the reliability features on S2C modems helped achieve excellent packet delivery ratios. Results from the experiment over 4 hop networks showed P2P mode with achievement of 100% packet delivery.
