Eric Ries And Neo Assemble World's Largest Gathering Of 'Lean Startups'

Lean Startup Conference 2012 to be presented by Eric Ries, founder of the lean movement, in partnership with lean software experts Neo.

The world's largest-ever conference on Lean Startup techniques is to take place on 3 December in San Francisco and be live-streamed to more than 300 locations in 140 countries across the globe, including Edinburgh and London.

Presented by Eric Ries, founder of the lean movement, in partnership with lean software experts Neo (formerly known as New Context), the Lean Startup Conference 2012 is expected to sell out at more than 700 attendees in San Francisco, with more than 10,000 others expected to view the event remotely.

'Lean Startup' is a methodology to stop organisations wasting time and money creating online products and services that no-one wants, as Neo's UK Managing Director, Paul Wilson, explains:

"Technology startups are booming again in 2012 but valuable lessons have been learned from the first dot com crash. Last time, the mantra was 'build it and they will come'. As a result, billions were poured into ideas and companies that, failing to make money or find an audience, crashed. Things are different today with Lean Startup methodology being adopted not just by the startup world but also by big business and governments in the UK and the US.

"Lean Startup forces entrepreneurs to question every assumption and validate those assumptions before pouring resource into acting on them: it enables startups to steer their way to success, rather than rush blindly in a single direction."

The Lean Startup Conference 2012 will bring together innovators from both the public and private sector to share lessons for building profitable lean organisations.

Speakers range from founders of early-stage startups to leaders of Fortune 500 enterprises, including Marc Anderssen, innovator and creator of billion dollar companies Mosaic Internet browser and Netscape, and Steve Blank, who's Customer Development Methodology spawned the Lean Startup movement.

Eric Ries, is an entrepreneur and author of the New York Times bestseller 'The Lean Startup' who has served on the advisory board of a number of technology startups. In 2010, he was named entrepreneur-in-residence at Harvard Business School.

Neo is a global product innovation company which creates compelling mobile and Web products for clients, with a focus on creating customer value and business success. Its client list includes large enterprises, startups, and governments. Neo was founded with the vision that great product development requires "lean startup" rigour and the close collaboration of business, technology and design.
