Eleusis Collective Announces Summer 2012 Event Series
Online, July 23, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Eleusis, a Chicago-based artists' collective, will be holding several community events this July in Rutland, VT, including: Visiting Artists Workshops, an Open Reading, and the Summer Workshop Final Performance. In the Visiting Artists Workshops, artists in fields ranging from music video production to costume design to comic book writing will lead interactive and creative workshops. For the Open Reading, community members are invited to join Eleusis in reading original short pieces of fiction, non-fiction, and poetry, in front of a live audience. At the Summer Workshop Final Performance, participants of the Eleusis Summer Workshop will perform short original performance pieces. All events will be free and open to the public. Eleusis is a Chicago-based artists' collective interested in exploring questions of gender, identity, and representation through performance, literary, and multimedia arts. This summer, Eleusis launched its first projects in the community of Rutland, VT, where the collective is teaching a theatre arts workshop to local adolescent girls; organizing community arts events; and creating a collaborative multi-media project about the experience.
