Tyson also pointed out that it is in poor taste to show up to volunteer with an unapproved group of people. The agency may not have work and accommodations prepared for them. Furthermore, many non-profit organizations conduct brief background checks on their volunteers. They need to have information available before allowing anyone to participate. Conversely, it’s not acceptable to cancel just before the event or appointment, either.
