Edge Advertising Offers Hiring Opportunities

Edge Advertising's director of operations discussed the company's approach to internships, and highlighted the many benefits such programs offer to freshly educated and energetic individuals.

“Spring is upon us, and with the end of another semester college students will be setting their sights on internship opportunities,” said Tyler, the director of operations at Edge Advertising “Fortunately for them and for us, we’re eager to welcome some ambitious students and recent graduates into our internship program.”

Tyler explained that he and his colleagues refuse to take the typical route when it comes to interns. They don’t relegate these individuals to tasks such as running for coffee or filing. Instead, they strive to give every intern the opportunities to learn and grow professionally. “Our interns are treated just as the rest of the team is treated,” he said. “They are privy to our intensive training and mentorship program, for instance, and they participate in the campaign design and execution processes. We recognize their value, and we want our relationships with these individuals to be mutually beneficial.”

"At various points throughout these programs, and especially when internships come to an end, students typically receive documented evidence of their abilities,"

Leader at Edge Advertising Describes the Impact of Internships on College Students, Graduates

“Many programs of study require that students complete a specific number of internship hours,” Tyler continued. “This is for good reason; the benefits simply cannot be ignored. In fact, I encourage all aspiring professionals to seek such opportunities – even if they aren’t necessary for graduation.”

According to Tyler, interns obtain relevant industry knowledge and experience that cannot be gained in the classroom setting. They actually do the work, applying textbook information to real-life situations. They also receive training and feedback on their progress.

“At various points throughout these programs, and especially when internships come to an end, students typically receive documented evidence of their abilities,” indicated Tyler. “At Edge Advertising, we make sure that every intern understands his or her strengths, as well as areas of needed improvement and strategies for improvement. This input helps them refine their skills for future endeavors.”

“Finally, interns get a jump start on building networks,” concluded Tyler. “They begin making professional contacts, which we all know are imperative to landing other career opportunities. Sometimes, for example, we invite our interns to join our team on a long-term, full-time basis. Of course, we’re also always willing to act as references and provide letters of recommendation. Perhaps it is needless to say, but all of these benefits really boost confidence in students and recent graduates.”
