Don Davis Honda is pleased to announce its offering of The Ecology Center Least Toxic Vehicle of 2012, the 2012 Honda Civic.
The Ecology Center, a Michigan-based nonprofit environmental organization, found that the Honda Civic had the least amount of hazardous chemicals in its vinyl and in flame retardants than any other vehicle.
"Over the past decade, Honda has taken a number of steps to reduce or remove chemicals of concern from our vehicles," said the manager of corporate affairs and communications at American Honda, Marcos Frommer. "We voluntarily report these efforts in our annual North American Environmental Report."
Honda's efforts allowed the 2012 Civic to top the Ecology Center's list of least toxic vehicles. The Civic's lack of bromine-based flame retardants in all interior components, polyvinyl chloride (PVC)-free interior fabrics and low levels of metal allergens are credited with winning the award.
The Ecology Center is not the only organization recognizing the 2012 Honda Civic for being environmentally friendly vehicle. Kelley Blue Book recently named the 2012 Civic on its list of the Top 10 Best Green Cars of 2012.
