DutchCrafters Commits $5,000 in Matching Funds to MEDA Fundraiser
Sarasota, FL, August 21, 2015 (Newswire.com) - CEO Jim Miller invites others to join DutchCrafters Amish Furniture, the largest Web-only retailer of Amish furniture, in supporting the work of Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA) through the Bike to GROW fundraiser. Tax-deductible donations can be given at http://bit.ly/BIKETOGROW.
Mary Fehr and Sarah French are biking across Canada with the goal to raise $150,000 for MEDA’s GROW program, Greater Rural Opportunities for Women. GROW helps women farmers access quality seeds and other supplies. The program plans to reach 20,000 women over six years.
Miller met French at a MEDA convention and pledged to match up to $5,000 in giving for the Bike to GROW initiative.
“I was inspired by Sarah’s desire and belief that she could make a difference in the lives of others,” said Miller. “I’m often inspired by the ideals of young people who creatively and passionately find ways to do good outside of the conventional norms. Mary and Sarah are such persons.”
Miller was introduced to the work of MEDA as a college student about 20 years ago, while he was exploring his interest in using his talents and career for more than just personal professional gains. He found in MEDA an organization that uses marketplace principles to gain leverage in their mission to help end world poverty. He has supported the work of MEDA ever since and currently serves as the president of MEDA’s Sarasota, Fla. chapter.
