Dr. Timothy Giancarlo Named President of The Allendale Community for Mature Living

Dr. Hector Giancarlo, Founder of the Senior Campus, Remains Chairman

Dr. Timothy Giancarlo has been named president of The Allendale Community for Mature Living. Tim Giancarlo will replace his father, Dr. Hector R. Giancarlo, who is stepping down as president after nearly 50 years at Allendale's helm.

"I am very proud to make the announcement that my son, Tim, who has the experience, proven leadership and medical background will continue our family's leadership of the Allendale community," said Dr. Hector Giancarlo who will remain Chairman of the Board. "Just as important, Tim shares our family's deep commitment to providing high-quality care for older adults and helping them remain as active and self-sufficient as possible."

Dr. Tim Giancarlo, a 48-year-old Bergen County native, is a graduate of the New York College of Podiatric Medicine where he received his D.P.M degree, and Syracuse University. He is a licensed nursing home administrator and licensed podiatrist. He lives in Ridgewood with his wife, Sandra, and two children.

Dr. Giancarlo brings a visionary approach to running the healthcare organization. "This is an excellent opportunity to position the senior campus for future success by growing many of the healthcare services we now offer including sub-acute care, speech, occupational and physical therapy," he said. "In addition, I look forward to expanding my involvement in community and civic affairs representing The Allendale Community."

Dr. Hector R. Giancarlo is an acknowledged eldercare and senior housing pioneer, having founded The Allendale Nursing Home, The Rehabilitation Center at The Allendale Community, Carlton Court and The Atrium Assisted Living, which were all among the first facilities of their kind in New Jersey. Today, the campus's four senior residences, offer an ease of transition from assisted living and memory care to long-term and subacute care while serving as a model for similar campuses nationwide.

Throughout his celebrated career, Dr. Giancarlo has been acknowledged for his achievements in the medical field as a prominent E.N.T. surgeon at New York Eye and Ear Hospital, where he served as the former Chairman of Otolaryngology. In 1991, the specialty hospital established The Hector R. Giancarlo, M.D. Center for Communicative Disorders in his honor. In addition, Dr. Giancarlo formerly served as a board member and president of the N.J. Department of Health's licensing board.

The flexible services offered at The Allendale Community include a full complement of hospitality services and enrichment programming. In 2002, the Senior Social Club was introduced, offering ambulatory seniors the opportunity to interact in a safe environment while enjoying all of the Atrium's activities, trips, and amenities. The Rehabilitation Center at The Allendale Community opened in 2006, offering sub-acute care to people of all ages who have suffered an injury or are recovering from an illness or surgical procedure.

To complement its superior on-site services, The Allendale Community has forged strong partnerships with area hospitals, including Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck, Hackensack University Medical Center and Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, N.Y.
