Jonathan C. Ellis, M.D., Board Certified Gastroenterologist, Tower Digestive Health Medical Group
With over 30 years dedicated to medicine, Dr. Ellis brings a wealth of knowledge to his industry, and in particular, to his area of expertise, Gastroenterology. When asked why he decided to pursue a career in medicine, Dr. Ellis said:
"The decision to become a doctor came over time. I was interested in the sciences and interested in medicine. I did have a job in a neuropathology lab when I was an undergraduate, and being around doctors just made me feel at home."
Dr. Ellis specializes in consultation and management involving all gastrointestinal disorders, as well as numerous routine screenings and other specialized procedures. This includes colonoscopy for prevention and diagnosis of colonic disorders, upper endoscopy for evaluation of gastrophageal reflux and other symptoms of the digestive tract, small bowel capsule endoscopy, and Helicobacter Pylori breath testing, among other tests and procedures. Dr. Ellis also teaches in the medical school at UCLA, where he works with fellows, residents, interns and students.
As a thought-leader in his specialty, Dr. Ellis pays close attention to prevailing trends in medicine, some of which necessitate change in order to allow physicians to deliver the highest quality of care. Dr. Ellis is not contracted with any health insurance programs which does free him from the burdensome, time-consuming data reporting which is used by insurance companies for trending expenses and making bottom-line decisions but does not benefit individual patient care. He and his office directly pursue and fulfill insurance company authorization processes, and will fight for coverage for all recommended testing and plan-restricted prescriptions. Dr. Ellis' office bills insurance through the out-of-network benefits, and will work with patients with regard to balance billing. Though he does utilize an electronic medical record system, his office also maintains paper records for purposes of both redundancy and privacy, given that some patients do not wish for their records to be stored on-line.
Named ‘Top Two Best Gastroenterologists in LA’ by Angeleno magazine, Dr.
