Dr. Rubenstein outshines others in his field due to his extensive educational background, numerous awards and recognitions, and career longevity. After receiving a B.S. from Rutgers University, he went on to earn his D.M.D. from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He went on to a General Practice Residency at the Lancaster Cleft Palate Clinic and H.K. Cooper Center for Craniofacial Anomalies. From there he matriculated to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston, Texas, where he earned his M.S. and Certificate in Prosthodontics with an emphasis in Maxillofacial Prosthetics.
It seems with the rapidly advancing technologies related to information transfer and virtual planning that what we are currently doing represents only the tip of the iceberg for future advances that will supplant conventional approaches to implant-based treatment.

With over 40 years dedicated to dentistry, Dr. Rubenstein brings a wealth of knowledge to his industry and, in particular, to his area of expertise, Maxillofacial Prosthetics. When asked why he decided to pursue a career in dentistry, Dr. Rubenstein said:
"When I was a kid, my Dad was very skilled with using tools and I spent hours with him in his workshop gleaning these skills from him. I also admired two older cousins who went on to medical school. With those influences, I determined that my career path required working with my hands and applying those skills to some area in the healthcare field—I just had to find the right one.”
Dr. Rubenstein is a Professor in the Division of Prosthodontics and the Director of the Maxillofacial Prosthetic Service at the University of Washington School of Dentistry and Medical Center. He is a renowned researcher and pioneer in the development of implant-based rehabilitation efforts for patients with anatomical compromises resulting from oral/head/neck cancer management, congenital anomalies, and trauma.
As a thought leader in his field, Dr. Rubenstein has authored publications in the periodic and text literature, and has lectured locally, nationally, and internationally. He has mentored prosthodontic and pre-doctoral students’ research projects related to implant component interface fit, bite force assessments, and more recently, image transfer as an alternative to recording conventional impressions.
With his focus in the field of implant prosthodontics Dr. Rubenstein is challenged by the technological advances currently evolving. He is trying to inculcate these “new age” technologies to help streamline and make more efficient, accurate, and precise implant based clinical procedures. He notes:
"It seems with the rapidly advancing technologies related to information transfer and virtual planning that what we are currently doing represents only the tip of the iceberg for future advances that will supplant conventional approaches to implant-based treatment.”
