“In case of extreme medical conditions wherein the mother cannot carry the child in her womb, we go in for gestational surrogacy. In this technique, by using the IVF technique the mother’s egss are first harvested and then fertilized with sperm from the father. The embryo thus formed is then into the uterus of another woman (called gestational surrogate). The surrogate then carries the baby until birth,” she informs. 

“All these are modern scientific procedures used for the benefit of mankind. But for any technique to be a success, the first and foremost thing acceptance from the couple going in for it. The couple needs to accept the process even before it actually starts,” says Dr Ganeshan
