Ring in the New Year with the Downtown Countdown New Year's Eve Street Celebration which is set for 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. on December 31. The festivities will take place in the Commerce Street Entertainment District featuring live entertainment plus fireworks and confetti once the clock strikes twelve. The Downtown Countdown will be broadcast live on Alabama News Network from 10:00 p.m. until 12:10 a.m. CST.

Headliners Atlanta Groove Factory will bring a mix of new and classic party and dance music and local DJ Johnny Lanson will get the celebratory vibe started by opening the show. Local bars, food and souvenir vendors will be selling at outdoor stands throughout the night.

A more intimate but equally festive party can be found on the Harriott II Riverboat. The cruise features live entertainment, drink specials and refreshments for purchase and a champagne toast and commemorative glass to go with the best view in town for the midnight fireworks display. Boarding begins at 10 p.m. and the boat will cruise from 10:30 p.m. - 12:30 a.m. Tickets range from $40 – 60 and can be purchased by calling 334-625-2100 or at www.funinmontgomery.com

FREE Parking is available in any of the city parking decks at Coosa Street, the municipal deck on Monroe Street, the two decks on Washington Avenue, the intermodal deck at Molton Street and the Union Station Train Shed. Free parking will also be available in the five lots located behind the Riverfront Stadium and a shuttle will run from these lots to the event site from 8:30 p.m. to 2 a.m.
