A spectacular opening ceremony marks the start of the show on 1st May 2011 with live music, acrobatics and loud fireworks. Attendees can then walk through the stands that will be manned by tour operators and tourist board members who will be able to provide detailed accounts on the sights within the city. Visitors can find out about everything from entry times to the cost of admission and special discounts will also be available that are exclusive to the show.

Chefs from local restaurants will be cooking a variety of dishes for audiences from Xiamen hotels to try including the region's famous dish called 'half moon sinking in the river' which is moon shaped mushrooms with fried gluten balls. A competition will also be held inviting cooks to create their best dishes which represent Xiamen cuisine.

Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com commented: "The show is a good time for people new to Xiamen to visit as it will showcase the best of the city's attractions. The increase in tourists however is likely to raise demand for hotels so people should make an effort to book early."
