Destructive Earthquakes, Deadly Shootings—What's Next? and Do You Know What to Do?

Volunteer Ministers from the Church of Scientology L.A. helping citizens prepare for the disasters we all hope will never occur.
Volunteer Ministers will be on hand to answer any questions and provide simple tools anyone may learn to help their friends and families.

Los Angeles residents are no strangers to disasters, from the December 2015 San Bernadino shooting where 14 were killed and 22 injured, to flooding and rockslides from el Niño’s destructive storms. And with each new tremor, we wonder—will this be “The Big One”?

In fact, Los Angeles ranks 4 internationally for the number of people potentially affected by an earthquake and tops the list for North and Central America. L.A. is also prone to 13 out of 16 federally identified natural or man-made threats including wildfires, extreme temperatures, landslides, hurricanes, tornados, tsunamis, and terrorism, to name a few.

To help the community prepare for disasters like there, the Volunteer Ministers of Southern California are hosting their 2nd Annual Hollywood Disaster Preparedness Fair, 12 noon-5pm February 27 in the parking lot of the Church of Scientology of Los Angeles at 4810 Sunset Blvd. in Los Angeles.

The fair is open to the public free of charge. Emergency services, nonprofits and vendors with information booths will include Kaiser Permanente Hospital, the L.A. Free workshops will help local residents prepare for an earthquake; learn basic first aid, CPR, and self defense; and find out how to deal safely with civil unrest.

There will also be workshops on Scientology Volunteer Ministers techniques used at the sites of hundreds of disaster sites around the world:

  1. ·      Assists for Illnesses and Injuries—for techniques developed by Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard that help speed recovery by addressing the spiritual and mental factors in stress and trauma.
  2. ·      Solutions for a Dangerous Environment—where workshop participants will learn to help people overcome the shock of their immediate circumstances so they can cope and pull their lives back together.

Prizes will be raffled every hour and with the proceeds from raffle ticket sales benefitting Family Promise, a 501(c)3 organization that helps get homeless families back on their feet.

With activities for kids and food vendors, there will be something for everyone at the fair.  For all details, go to http://bit.ly/CommunityFair
