David Hurt's New Book "Trainbound" is a Remarkable Adventure Story of Two Boys Who Hop on a Freight Train Heading South to Learn to Become Men and Face Their Destiny.

Recent release "Trainbound" from Covenant Books author David Hurt is the adventurous coming-of-age story of childhood best friends Nick and Bray, a story full of boyish fun, misadventures, and colorful characters encountered along the way—all of which will play a part in shaping the boys into the men they ultimately become.

David Hurt, a former US Marine who lives in a small farm in Brush Prairie, Washington, has completed his new book, “Trainbound”: an epic story of friendship and adventure following two fourteen-year-old boys wanting to become men beyond their shared childhoods in Battle Ground, Washington.

David shares from his book, “As I moved around in later years, I always tried to live near some railroad tracks so that I could see them, hear the activity, and take an afternoon stroll along their courses. The feel of unevenly spaced ties and the ballast between them under my boots caused me to lengthen or shorten my steps accordingly and always brought memories from other times. It was part of my life. It brought me peace and connected me to the past, present, and future. I was inexplicitly bound to the rail line. Perhaps it was the connection they provided me to my youth and the adventures Bray and I had along it.”

Published by Covenant Books of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, David Hurt’s new book is a charming, emotionally charged novel that allows readers to delight in the growing friendship of the main characters as well as share in the wisdom and experience they accumulate along the journey to San Clemente—all the way to the unexpected ending and the paths they inevitably take later in life.

The transition from childhood dreams to the meaningfulness of maturity is a crossing of the Rubicon that still speaks to those who have crossed it years ago. David Hurt writes with a poignance and immediacy that will inspire nostalgia and longing for boyhood idealism, even as the reader follows the boys beyond this stage of their lives and away from that fateful and legendary summer of 1981.

Readers can purchase “Trainbound” at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, or Barnes and Noble.
